Ranger Lake Hatchery House
In November of 2011, a few members put their heads together and decided to ask
the board for permission to re-start the Hatchery, which hasn't been run for
about 2 decades (maybe longer). These members proposed that any and all funds
will come from their own pockets, or fundraisers, and not take away from the
club (they're doing this to save the club money, not spend it). They also
promised that no fish will be put in the hatchery until things are stable and
running. The majority of the members and board present that night gave their
best wishes, in that they are successful. Their intent is to raise their own
lunkers to add to the lake for our contests and special events. They knew it
would be a lot of hard work and long hours of volunteering their personal time.
They also knew that it would be for a good cause and a great accomplishment to
meet this goal.
It took a little longer than they wanted, but 2
years later, they have accomplished a great deal of work and we are happy to say
they are up and running! On Saturday, May 18th, 2013, the pumps were fired up and
water found its way into the newly painted tanks! On Sunday, June 2nd, the committee asked for permission to add a few fish to the tanks and it was a go!
UPDATE: As of now, August 2017, the hatchery has been temporarily closed. We are very sorry to share this news but hope to have our issues fixed and up and running again by spring 2018. Thank you for your continued support!
